Aftercare

The First Few Days

Your tattoo is an open wound and will ooze blood, plasma, and ink.

  1. When you get home, remove the plastic wrap with clean hands.

  2. Wash off the tattoo with antibacterial soap.

  3. Pat dry with a paper towel to avoid germs that could be on fabric towels

For the next day or so the tattoo will weep so clean it off as needed, always with clean hands.

DO NOT use any lotion or Aquaphor for at least the first 3-4 days

Big NO's while your tattoo is healing:

  • Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds

  • Do not have the tattoo submerged in water ie. baths, swimming pools, hot tubs, ocean

  • Do not rewrap in plastic wrap, you want the tattoo to breathe

  • Avoid getting a tattoo right before going on vacation to a beach. Sand and salt water in an open wound does not feel good and will ruin your time!

Weeks 1-2

Your tattoo will peel, itch, and scab. Do not pick or pull the scabs off! Let them flake off naturally. Picking at the scabs could result in major spots of ink missing after the tattoo is healed and therefore needing a touch up.

If possible you may want to avoid tight clothing that could snag on any scabs.

Any simple, unscented lotion is good to use at this point.

Week 3+

The skin's surface should be healed within this week if it hasn't already. The tattoo is no longer an open wound, but underneath the surface it could still be healing. Moisturizing the tattoo and using sunscreen will help keep it looking nice and vibrant!

Transparent
Bandage Aftercare

The transparent bandage creates a barrier around your freshly tattooed skin, protecting it from dust, bacteria, moisture, and other external irritants. This tattoo aftercare is completely waterproof yet breathable to ensure that the skin receives the airflow it needs to heal and remain sweat-free.

The first piece only stays on for about 24 hours.

During the first 24 hours there will be a lot of weeping of blood, plasma, and ink from the tattoo. If any seeps out of the bandage, just take a wet paper towel and clean that excess fluid off.

After 24 hours, you will peel off that first piece (in the shower is best) and wash the tattoo with antibacterial soap or just water. Pat the tattoo dry with a paper towel and then wait a minute. Finally when your skin is totally dry, apply the piece that I gave you.

To apply the bandage:

  1. peel off the white backing

  2. stick it on really good and make sure the entire tattoo is covered

  3. peel off the grid

Do not let there be a substantial amount of time in between taking off the first bandage and putting on the second one. If you take off the first bandage in the shower then you should put the second piece on once you get out of the shower and dry off.

The second piece can be left on for 4-7 days.

After you take off that piece the tattoo should pretty much be healed. If your skin is dry then some unscented lotion can be applied.
